this is how they make the carrot rod. The material derived from carrots has been named `curran`.Firstly, the carrots are broken down into a sort of`moleculer soup`. Then there is a comlicated extraction process to isolate the required parts-the cellulose nanofibres. This means removing the unwanted parts such as water(carrots are around 99 per cent water) and the beta-carotne (the pigment that makes carrots orange). In fact, any vegatable could be used to make rods,it`s just that there are fewer unwanted materials to remove in carrots compared to some other vegetables;for instance, you`d have to remove a lot of starch in potatoes. Once the fibres have been removed, they are then mixed with synthetic resins to form the solid, useable material. This material is then bonded to a carbon core before being coloured to form the finished blank. well thats all there is to it. all nice and clear.
