i have watched a few french fishing programmes and have noticed that some of the fly fishermen put there fly directly onto the nylon(no droppers).i dont know if they cant be bothered to tie on droppers or if it is just a french thing,but they catch and land thier fish ok.
and have also seen them use a bubble with a length of nylon in front with a spinner on(mepps).will have to try that next time i go to loch tay
