-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Today I returned to the water and would like to warn other fishers of our trip today, the following letter was emailed to the owner. feel free to cut and paste this warning on other sites as a warning to other fishermen and women.
Dear Sir it is with dismay I write to you for an explanation to your false impression given at this time on your fishery flyer (A wonderful environment for the fly fisher). I and four other anglers attended your fishery today 29 September 2007 and paid £23 each for a day’s fishing £115. After setting up we were greeted to the constant noise of a digger with a pecker (hammer drill) breaking rock for 2 hours constant. Considering this was a Saturday and would in most cases be the busiest day of the week for visiting fishermen. Can you explain why this would be taking place and no warning signs or information was given prior to our group paying to fish the venue. This being the first of annoying distractions on the day, the second was then introduced to the fishermen on the bank nearest to the hut, When the digger then started to drop Concrete and plastic pipes in the water, the third and final straw was a seven ton dumper then dropping the broken rock into the water, this was carried out on three occasions. At this point we decided to leave the fishery and asked to speak to the fishery owner. The fishery manager on duty informed us you were not available but would have you phone us. At this point we have still received no phone call from you. Your manager informed us that dropping these rocks in the water brought the fish on, so therefore we as fly fishermen should now carry rocks with us when fishing and throw them in the water prior to fishing at all venues to bring the fish on. Do you support this ideology? Stocking other fish might bring the fish on or disturb them into moving and at no point did I or any other person see any fish being stocked. Your manager seems to be under the impression that myself was not happy at not having caught a fish and was using this as an excuse. Sorry but 7 people left the fishery for the same reason as me; they were not prepared to fish on a building site where the water was being disturbed by construction work on the bank where we were fishing and have a dumper, dump rocks in the water. For the record some of the group had caught fish prior to pipes and rock being dumped in the water. I attach a picture of the digger in action on the banking. We as a group would expect to be compensated for the farcical going on at your establishment via a refund. I informed your manager if you did not contact us (Two phone numbers were left with the manager) I would report today’s events on fishing forums to warn other fishermen that construction work is taking place on the water during opening times. Can you explain why your manager refused to refund us any of the fees for broken promises of a wonderful environment to fish in? The reason we left was because we did not intend to fish under these circumstances any longer and I am sure there would be full backing from the majority of fly fishermen with our stance in this instance. I look forward to your response on this matter.

I had a reply from your man to my 2nd email. It stated that a was barred and he would place this on his web site, first time a have been barred from a fishery for telling the truth so beware out there in cyberland, but everybody else was invited back to fish for free. Enjoy the trips lads.
The 2nd email sent that warrented my Barring
Dear Proprietor Ballencrieff trout fishery
I write to you via email as I had problems contacting yourself via phone at the fishery as the answering machine was taking all calls. (I left two messages) I write regards your voice mail message to myself regarding our visit to your fishery on Saturday the 29th of October. First of all I would like to state this was a social visit by 5 members of Falkirk tight lines angling club on the day and this was not an official outing by the club. On the matter of slanderous comments the previous email you received was indeed fact of events that happened on the day and a list of questions we would like answered to why these incidents took place. There are witnesses to the fact these events took place along with photographic evidence of machinery on the fishery banking. The fishery manager on duty was informed that if you did not contact us we would post the report on forum internet sites, as is normal for members of internet forum sites on visits to fisheries, lochs or rivers. The reason this was done was because you did not contact us until after the time limit given to your manager to explain the situation, he informed me he would phone you with this information and today and at present I have still not spoken to yourself with regards this incident, yet you left a voice mail accusing myself of slander and a threat to involve my workplace with slander on the 1st October around 11.20 am. The fact is, if you were treated with the situation we received on the visit to your premises, you would have every right to complain and pass the information on to others via forums or by email. The incidents that took place were indeed fact and not a malicious false statement or report, on the day in question. My colleague William Chalmers informed me that you had also contacted him with an apology for the work that had been taking place and an offer for us attending your fishery at a later date. At present I would not be willing to attend your fishery due to the present circumstances regarding this incident due to your ill feeling towards myself via your voicemail. The other 4 would also like to decline your offer at this time. We may well take you, up on this offer next season, as an official outing by ourselves and the club forum members. While as a group we would rather be reimbursed by a return of our fees for the day. As this is an act of good will on your part, it would be accepted if no ill feeling is shown towards us if we were to take up your offer, and you accept this was not a slanderous attack on your fishery but a fair and honest report on what happened on the day. I would be willing to post your offer of an apologia for the work taking place as you informed William via a phone call, and also this was out with your control as you had informed William, and your offer to reimburse us with a free days fishing for the inconvenience on the day. This would be posted on web sites that the report was posted on. We would now wish to put this incident behind us and move forward with no ill feeling. If you require me to post your offer of recompense on the forum sites please email me ASAP
Reply from Ballencrieff
I have made our apologies I haven't denied that the contractors were building the causeway however as was explained this should not have happened on Saturday's as a form of compensation we offered a full refund in the way of the same ticket that were purchased (not taken into consideration that you already had half days fishing and four fish ) this was by way a fair and representative way to compensate all of you,Which Willie accepted and we agreed he would phone first to ensure that there would be no further construction activity taking place .Fair I think?
However as a result of your further email YOU are no longer welcome on my fisher NOW OR EVER. your colleges still are AND ARE WELCOME ANYTIME TO TAKE UP MY OFFER. We will post your effective barring and on our web site as we are entitled to do
with immediate effect
