me n ma pal went tae the river allan on wed 3rd oct.got there 9.30 ish.
we were fly fishing for a change at kinbuck, unfortunately the water was a tad low, so we were going to be lucky to see a fish let alone catch one.there were a few rises from wee broonies,that ma pal was catchin but nuthin else.
after obout 1/2 an hour it started tae rain light rain at first then got heavy,that was the story for the rest of the day off and on off and on.
we moved down the river a wee bit to the faster flowin water.i cast my fly and let it turn and about one foot in front of my fly a salmon of about 4lb lept out of the water to say hello to me then was gone.
(bugger) a couple mins later another salmon jumped about 25 yards further down the river,kept fishin for a wee while but with no luck.
went up a bit to johnsons pool,there are usualy fish in this pool.but we fished it for a while but got nothin for our trouble.
we then drove down to ashfield for the last hour or so.i started fishing and as my line was drifting down this salmon lept out of the water and over my fly line, it must have been 7 or 8lb.and i am sure there was a wee smile
on its face just before it went back into the water.we met a couple of anglers during the day but like us were fishless.still it was a good day out dispite the rain.it was my pals first day fishin on a river and he enjoyed himself catchin the wee broonies better luck next time.
