Nice looking fly Jock. When would you use it?

Shanksi am going to tie down to 12’s and fish in a wake with floating line or just under the surface on an intermediate line on the point. Am tying a collection up for the Isle, this will reflect with the names of the fly’s being places on the Isle of Rum. I also tied up one called the Kinloch but this requires some modification as am not sure about the length of the tail on the fly. Am going down the tradition style of fly with some new age materials here and there in the Harris, I have incorporated Marabou for a bit more movement when pulled through the water with a quicker retrieve as you will be aware the conditions change rapidly on the hill lochs. Only time will tell if these patterns will provide success not only on the Isle but on Lochs where terrestrial fly life has red and brown in there biological make up. I am confident this pattern will work well on the Isle and look forward to trying it out along with the other new patterns am working on at the moment. The thing is you will get a report on how well it has done here and the best method later on in the year when the season starts as there might be a variation on the method I have given at the top of this post. Hope this helps. falkirktightlines.com
