Does anybody know if there is any truth in the rumour that condoms will be banned on the Forth this year?it seems that they are determined to stop people catching fish if it is,you are already limited to removing only five salmon a year;having second thoughts aboot buying a season ticket .

Im no sure exactly how much this year,it was £120 last year if i mind right, which is a fair dod for only being able to take 5 fish home over a season, especially when at loads of beats further up the system there is no limit to the amount of salmon that can be taken;its only the beats controlled by the council that limit anglers from taking fish-they say its for conservation of stocks but if your on a private beat you are not reqd to participate in conservation.A tad infuriating perhaps to think that on the bottom beats anglers are returning fish in the name of conservation only for those fishing further up on the more expensihe water to kill wot they want without a thought to saving stocks!

I dont think its likely,im led to believe that its a forth salmon board initiative backed by Stirling cooncil, but the Allan is run by its own club so they are free to set there own limits and will hopefully continue to do so at a sensible level. Are you a member of the allan water or do you just a ticket when you need it?Didnae catch any salmon at all last year but got 3 already this so im hoping to do well.I wiz reading the site fur the Tummel-some good ticket prices until the end of March-£19 a day-but it goes up quite steeply thereafter but at the moment ye can get a six day week fur aboot £80 good value methinks;only ive no got a weeks holiday to go .

Now Nelson on a good day that is ten fish and if everybody on the Alan was taking that amount of fish off. No wonder you canny catch a fish up there. In Ieland you get tags on permied water to stop this kind of thing and when you catch a fish you need to tag it if you are keepng it and send a tag to the fishery board. If you do not tag the fish you are keeping you get a fine. There was one guy who had four salone in his motor with no tags on and got a £3,000 fine and lost his permit for the water. A good idea, stops people from abusing the water Howdo yo keep records of catches on the Forth and the Alan ?
