You may have read this or not in the Trout fisherman, If not I think they may be trying to stir a bit up on the letter page which in my opinion is pretty censored not the content the amount of space given up for it. Anyway in my opinion there was this fishery manager on about charging £250 a shift to fish his Duck pond, which in most cases are stocked trout with the odd brownie thrown in to keep you happy. Now let's be honest here if you had £250 to spend on fishing, where is the last place you would be? I thats right fishing for rainbows in a duck pond or a flooded field. Where would your preferred option be? Mines would be the Isles with nature and fishing and the digs payed for, not at some half wits fishery who was pissed off cause you were catching his pellet fed trout. Now don't get me wrong here, some fisheries do provide excellent rainbow and brown trout fishing in the Stirlingshire area. With the well run and well managed Lake of Menteith and Swanswater, Who provide a high standard of put and take fishery. But if they all had the incite and forthright of our friend in trout fisherman, I don't think there would be many fisheries open. Well folks if you had £250 to spend on an outing what would it be?

Canny disagree wi ye there bud,£250 fur wan day fishing fur rainbows in a pond !hes having a laugh;he claims that is about the true cost of yer fishing but if that was true then i think there would be very few trout fisheries but in fact new ones are opening all the time;are all these fishery owners just being charitable?dont get me wrong i dont doubt that it is a hard business to run but if there wisnae a profit i dont think they would be doing it.
